About me and my practice

Losing someone is never easy and sometimes you might need some extra support to come to terms with what has happened and what you are experiencing.
Pet Bereavement in particular can be a hidden grief because people don't often understand this type of loss. Please know that you are not alone and that your feelings of grief are real and valid. Pet Bereavement Therapy can give you a space to talk through your experiences and feelings and what your loss means to you. It includes information on the grieving process and practical suggestions on how you can take care of yourself at this difficult time.
If you're struggling with your self esteem, you might feel that you have lost your confidence and have a low sense of self worth. You might have a tendency to people please, struggle to say no or find it difficult to make decisions.
You might have experienced emotional neglect in your childhood or been through a traumatic experience (for example bullying,a relationship break up, losing your job).
I offer a safe, non judgmental and compassionate space in which you can freely express yourself and feel heard. I will help you to explore what is going on for you, to work through your feelings and to build your confidence. We will go at your pace and tailor the therapy to your needs.
I offer telephone and video sessions. I offer short and long term therapy.
I offer a free 20 minutes introductory phone call in which I can answer any questions about therapy that you might have and we can decide if I'm the right therapist for you.

Experience

I am qualified, registered and accredited with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy.
I have previously worked for the NHS as a Counsellor with people from different walks of life, presenting with a variety of difficult life experiences and issues, for example bereavement, anxiety, depression and low self esteem. I have also worked in the charity sector as a therapist.

I have personal experience of Pet Bereavement and I am a pet owner, so I am able to offer deep empathy and understanding of what it means to lose your pet or companion animal. I also hold a Diploma in Pet Bereavement Therapy and am a registered member of the Association of Pet Bereavement Counsellors.

I am a Counsellor but I have also been in therapy myself so I know how nerve racking starting therapy and opening up to a stranger can feel. I want to reassure you that a warm welcome awaits you.
